Co-Curricular Music groups at ¿ìÉ«ÊÓƵ's Juniors

At ¿ìÉ«ÊÓƵ’s JuniorsÌýwe believe in stretching the pupils to the very best of their ability, whilst maintaining a sense of fun.

School ChoirÌý(80+ pupils) currently sings at one morning service per term, Carol Services and School concerts.Ìý They rehearse twice a week.Ìý There is an annual choir outing.

¿ìÉ«ÊÓƵ ChoirÌý(up to 30 pupils).Ìý In addition to the commitments of the School Choir, the ¿ìÉ«ÊÓƵ Choir sings at special functions and outside concerts, often with members of the senior school chamber choir.Ìý The Choir takes part in occasional concerts and services after the end of term.Ìý They rehearse twice a week. ¿ìÉ«ÊÓƵ choir members must attend School Choir.

Junior ChoirÌý(40+ pupils). This choir performs in assemblies and in concerts, and the audition is not as exacting as for the other choirs.Ìý Pupils may go on from this to the School Choir after audition. They rehearse once a week.

First OrchestraÌýhas about 50 players.Ìý They rehearse on Tuesday Lunchtimes and Friday mornings. This flagship ensemble tackles challenging repertoire and the standard begins at Grade 3 and goes beyond Grade 8.

String SinfoniaÌýmeets on Friday mornings. It is a developmental ensemble for string players who will eventually graduate to the orchestra.Ìý

Wind BandÌýrehearse on Wednesday lunchtimes. All woodwind and brass students should attend.

SPJ JazzÌýHas a traditional Big Band line-up of trumpets, trombones and saxophones along with a rhythm section of piano, bass, drums and guitar. Entry is by audition.

Smaller instrumental ensembles function when appropriate and time permits. At present there are ensembles of clarinets, saxophones, brass and Percussion. There are also two small chamber ensembles.
